Kid suffering from very high fever 104
Hello doctor, My daughter is 3 yrs 3 months old, weight 16.5kgs was having cold and cough last week. This week no cold or cough but she has developed high temperature for last 2 days reaching nearly 105°. As per doctor advise, crp, cbp and complete urine exam was done. All reports are normal except Crp which is 18. Oral intake is ok and she is active when no fever is there. Every 4-5 hours, temperature goes up near 104° and she is Shivering. Giving sponge bath to reduce the heat. Giving crocin, meftal as per temperature and completed 2 doses of antibiotics today. Mild right chest congestion is there doctor said. After giving all medications, she is still suddenly getting fever with Shivering. What could be the reason for this? Should we give any other blood tests or wait for the fever to subside? Please advise as am worried.

A urine test needed to be done, ideally before starting the antibiotic. In any case, the antibiotic will require at least 48 hours to work and see a reduction in fever. If there's no improvement, a repeat blood test may be required and possibly Intravenous antibiotics, based on the repeat blood reports.
