Is this throat scarring?
I did smoke for like 7 months and have stopped it. So, went to the ENT who said you have a scarring throat. Told me to stop smoking and gave me protein pump inhibitors. But I failed to tell her that I have DNS too. I was worried about having cancer because of smoking these past 6 months but she said  no need to worry about it but said to stop smoking otherwise it will increase the risk. Here is the image of the throat, is it really throat scarring ? Thanks

Care AI Shimmer
Thank you for sharing your concern. Smoking, even for a few months, combined with acid reflux (acidity), can cause irritation and mucosal injuries in the throat. Over time, these repeated injuries can potentially lead to pre-cancerous changes if not addressed early. It's good that you have stopped smoking—this is an important step. I recommend continuing to avoid smoking entirely.
Next Steps
Follow a nutrient-rich, balanced diet and avoid irritants such as tea, coffee, spicy food, and carbonated drinks which can worsen reflux.
Health Tips
Taking antacids or proton pump inhibitors, as advised, can help in healing. If symptoms persist or worsen, follow-up with an ENT specialist in person.
