Flucort-N is a combination ointment containing Fluocinolone (a potent steroid) and Neomycin (an antibiotic). Clinically, steroids are used to reduce inflammation, itching, and redness, while the antibiotic treats or prevents bacterial infection. However, applying a potent steroid directly on an open, oozing, or 'raw' wound can actually delay the natural healing process (epithelialization) and increase the risk of a deep-seated infection if the wound is not already clean. In clinical practice, steroids are usually reserved for inflammatory skin conditions (like Eczema) rather than active, infected wounds."
