I am suffering from iad . I had a consultation with a psychiatrist a few months ago who said i might have ocd as well. She suggested me to try thought blocking and medication. It was fine for a while but i couldnt tolerate the medicine well and now its progressed to an extend i cant function properly and lack any sort of motivation and am waiting for an impending doom. I wanted to know if there was anyone who can help me with cbt and erp who is specialised in this particular area with video consultation.
Thank you

I worked exclusively in NIMHANS OCD clinic for a year & got trained after my MD there. I can help you but I need to know your obsessions & compulsions, severity. I don't think the thought block will help you in OCD. You need to get exposed to obsession provoking stimulus & inhibit your response. That's ERP. And you just mentioned drugs but I don't know whether adequate trial (higher doses of antidepressants for at least 3months) is given or not. OCD is slow to respond but there will be a good response with a combination of medicine and ERP.
Medicines take time and also regular follow up is necessary, you cannot stop medicine in between a treatment plan, there is a algorithm of treatment plan, you can get benefit from medicine and also psychotherapy in long run, but if you go for doctor shopping, you will end up in big trouble one day, all the best
Consult a psychiatrist and also start your session for your CBT
Hey
You’re showing incredible courage by reaching out for help—acknowledging the struggle is already the first brave step toward recovery. From what you’ve shared, it sounds like you’re dealing with the overwhelming effects of Internet Addiction Disorder (IAD) compounded by OCD-like intrusive thoughts, leading to emotional exhaustion, lack of motivation, and a sense of hopelessness. The good news is, CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and ERP (Exposure and Response Prevention) are evidence-based treatments that are highly effective for exactly these kinds of issues.
Yes, there are therapists who specialize in OCD, IAD, and ERP through online video consultations. Since you’ve had difficulty with medications, therapy becomes even more crucial. I myself work extensively in this area and offer structured CBT & ERP-based interventions tailored for intrusive thoughts, compulsions, and digital addictions. With the right approach, we’ll not only work on thought blocking and reframing but also tackle behavioral compulsions and emotional regulation, step by step.

Hi, I appreciate that you reached out with your concern.
Yes, CBT can be done through video consultation, but first I suggest you to consult clinical psychologist and also consider psychodynamic test to find out if there is any personality issue which may be contributing to this. CBT and ERP definitely will help.
Meanwhile, consider incorporating calming practices such as deep breathing exercises, mindfulness, and progressive muscle relaxation into your daily routine. These techniques can help regulate your body’s stress response. Also, aim to maintain a nutritious diet, engage in light physical activity as tolerated, and prioritize restorative sleep.
