IBS can cause abdominal discomfort, bloating, and sometimes pain that radiates to the back due to gas and bowel spasms. However, recurrent chest pain and back pain should not automatically be attributed to IBS, especially if symptoms are persistent despite treatment. What should be done next? 1. Review the nature of the pain:     * Is it related to meals?     * Does it worsen on exertion?     * Is it associated with heartburn, bloating, or bowel movements?     * Does it improve after passing gas? 2. Since you are already taking medicines for IBS and acidity but symptoms persist, consider:     * Consultation with your Doctor for reassessment.     * Upper GI endoscopy if not done previously.     * Abdominal ultrasound if not already performed.     * Evaluation for gallbladder disease, gastritis, GERD, or pancreatic causes if symptoms suggest. 3. Chest pain should be evaluated separately if:     * It occurs on exertion.     * There is breathlessness, sweating, dizziness, or palpitations.     * There is a family history of heart disease. Regarding cholesterol and triglycerides; High triglycerides and cholesterol require: * Regular exercise (150 minutes/week minimum) * Weight control * Reduction of sugary drinks, sweets, refined carbohydrates, and alcohol * Regular follow-up lipid profile
