Rosuvastatin (Rosumac 20) is generally safe for managing high cholesterol but may cause muscle pain, digestive issues, or mild liver enzyme changes. Your alkaline phosphatase (ALP) level of 68 U/L is normal and not concerning. Continue a Mediterranean diet, avoid saturated fats, and exercise regularly to support treatment. Monitor liver function tests (LFTs) and cholesterol levels as advised. If you experience severe muscle pain, jaundice, or dark urine, consult your doctor immediately. Consider discussing vitamin D and CoQ10 supplements to reduce potential statin-related side effects. Stay hydrated and follow up with your doctor for regular evaluations and guidance.

Your Alkaline Phosphatase level is normal. It is not low. You should not expect any changes in the Lipid profile within a month. You should get the blood investigations done after three months to recheck the Lipid profile. There are side effects due to statins but they settle down with the passage of time.

When the lifestyle changes and diet changes are not lowering the cholesterol levels, statins like rosumac are prescribed,a right way to treat.Generally statins are well tolerated, may have side effects myalgia, increase in liver enzymes.Himalaya gugulu could be used as a supplement, but not as a substitute if your lipid levels are high.

Dear Patient, High cholesterol can be influenced by multiple factors, including genetics, lifestyle, and diet. While you’ve already tried exercise and diet control, sometimes medications like statins are essential to manage cholesterol levels effectively. Rosumac 20 (rosuvastatin) is generally well-tolerated. Some potential side effects include muscle pain, liver enzyme elevation, or rarely, digestive issues. It’s good that you’ve done liver function tests (LFT). A low alkaline phosphatase (68 U/L) might not be clinically significant in your case, but it’s worth evaluating your complete health profile. Regarding Himalaya Guggulu, while it’s an herbal option, its efficacy isn’t comparable to statins in controlling cholesterol and reducing cardiovascular risks. It may, however, be used as a supplementary therapy under medical guidance. I recommend continuing statins for a few weeks and rechecking your lipid profile. Alongside, ensure a strict diet, regular exercise, and stress management. Feel free to reach out to me on WhatsApp at eight-zero-zero-nine-eight-two-one-three-three-two for a detailed evaluation and personalized treatment plan. Take care.
