Dear Madam,
Thank you for sharing your husbandâs lipid profile values.
His total cholesterol (173 mg/dL) is within the normal range. However, the triglycerides level (359 mg/dL) is significantly elevated, and the HDL (38 mg/dL) is slightly low, which is not ideal. The non-HDL cholesterol (135 mg/dL) and VLDL (71.8 mg/dL) are also on the higher side.
This pattern suggests hypertriglyceridemia, which may increase the risk of cardiovascular problems if not addressed.
What does this mean?
High triglycerides are commonly associated with:
High carbohydrate/sugar intake
Alcohol consumption
Sedentary lifestyle
Obesity or metabolic issues
Next Steps
* Reduce sugar, refined carbs, and oily foods * Increase physical activity (at least 30 minutes daily) * Avoid alcohol (if applicable) * Include more fiber-rich foods (vegetables, fruits, whole grains) * Consider repeat testing after lifestyle changes
Health Tips
Diet Changes Avoid sugar & sweets (tea sugar, sweets, soft drinks) Reduce white rice, maida, bakery items Cut down fried & oily foods Include more vegetables, fruits, and whole grains Add healthy fats (nuts, seeds, small amount of groundnut/olive oil) Eat fish (like sardine, mackerel) 2 times/week if non-vegetarian. Physical Activity Walk at least 30â45 minutes daily Avoid long sitting hours Try light exercise like cycling or yoga. Weight & Habits Maintain healthy weight Avoid alcohol completely (very important for triglycerides) Stop smoking if applicable. Medical Care Take medicines only if prescribed Repeat lipid test after 6â8 weeks Check for diabetes & thyroid if needed. Control food, increase activity, and recheck - most cases improve without medicine if followed strictly.
