Heart rate over 200
My father in law 67 now has suddnely got a heart rate over 200 he was a bit dizzy and having discomoft, after diagnosis immegiately it has been found the valves are over worked and pumping blood all together at the same time hence is there any long term effect or risk in furure? Or it can happen at times it is normal, please respond. What is the diagnosis then surgery?

Heart rate of 200 is abnormal , could be due to many reasons AT, atrial fibrillation or flutter ,SVT ,VT etc.Without viewing the ECG tracing , can't comment
