Dear doctor,
My mom has gum disease and she was given some medication few years back, not a complete course. Now, she got marks on her lower jaw teeth and the gums are loosing its grip. The space between the lower jaw teeth is growing visibly more. I would like to know if there is a treatment for this.
Regards,
Sasikala Manyam.

Seems like she is suffering from periodontitis which is marked by gradual destruction of tissues surrounding the teeth.. Growing spacing between front teeth can be sign of pathological migration which happens because of periodontitis
Next Steps
Get a comprehensive periodontal examination done...

Visit dentist and get scaling done. Then after 4weeks visit dentist and check for periodontal pocket if necessary dentist periodontist will advise for flap surgery. If possible visit periodontist who specializes in gum disease treatment.
As per your age, your mom might be above 65 years. With added features like diabetes, age, etc to the deposits present, it would have caused bone loss. This leads to space in between the teeth getting large. Please check for mobility, if it is greater mobility then extract and go for FPD or implant ( if no health issues).
If there is slight mobility go for professional cleaning and splinting those teeth.
After stabilization, go for periodontal therapy to preserve other teeth
Next Steps
Please visit a periodontologist and discuss about the treatment plan. . It can not be self corrected or by home remedies.
Hope this helps you
