General checkup
Hi Doctor, can a physician can check issue in penis foreskin and let me know which doctor to see ahead if needed. I have some issue but not sure that is normal or abnormal. So want a basic checkup before moving to a specialist doctor.

Hello, It is a very good idea to start with a General Physician for an initial evaluation. Many common foreskin issues can be diagnosed and managed effectively at the primary care level. What to Expect During the Checkup: A General Physician will perform a physical examination to determine if the issue is: Anatomical: Such as Phimosis (tight foreskin) or Paraphimosis. Inflammatory/Infectious: Such as Balanitis (inflammation of the head of the penis) or Balanoposthitis (inflammation of both the head and the foreskin), which may be fungal or bacterial. Dermatological: Such as skin irritations or other benign conditions like Pearly Penile Papules. When a Specialist is Needed: If the General Physician determines the condition requires specialized equipment, surgery, or expert management, they will refer you to: Urologist: If the issue is structural, related to the urinary tract, or if surgical intervention (like circumcision or dorsal slit) is being considered. Dermatologist: If the issue appears to be a chronic skin condition or an infection that requires specialized topical treatment. Preparation for your Visit: To help your doctor make an accurate diagnosis, be ready to mention: How long the issue has been present. If there is any pain, itching, discharge, or difficulty with hygiene/retraction. Any recent changes in soaps or laundry detergents.

Yes, a general physician can check first. Most foreskin issues are simple (infection, tight foreskin, hygiene related). Keep area clean and dry, avoid forceful retraction. If pain, redness, discharge, or tight foreskin persists → may need urologist. You can consult me first, I will guide properly and refer if needed.

The condition may be caused by Balanitis, poor hygiene, tight foreskin (Phimosis), allergy or irritation, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), or other skin problems. You should visit our clinic for a consultation. Dr. Yuvraj Arora, a General Physician, Infectious Disease Specialist, and Diabetologist, will take your detailed history and examine you properly. Based on your condition, he will guide and treat you accordingly

Yes, you can have a consultation to get an initial opinion on your symptoms and assess the area if you choose to share images or video, and determine if you need to see a specialist in person.

"Yes, as a General Physician, I can definitely perform an initial assessment of foreskin issues (such as Phimosis, Balanitis, or simple infections). Many times, these concerns can be managed with primary medical treatment without needing immediate surgery. I need to understand the nature of the abnormality and any associated pain or itching to guide you further. If a surgical intervention is required, I will then refer you to the right specialist."
Next Steps
Maintain gentle local hygiene and avoid using harsh soaps in the area, as they can cause irritation. For a discreet and professional basic checkup or to discuss your symptoms in detail, please feel free to book an online consultation with me."
Health Tips
Do not try to forcefully retract the foreskin if it is tight, as this can lead to a medical emergency called Paraphimosis. Avoid applying any over-the-counter creams until a proper diagnosis is made, as the wrong medication can aggravate the skin."
