Care AI Shimmer
Acid Reflux & GERD. When the valve between the stomach and food pipe weakens, acid and gas flow upward.
Next Steps
Consult a Gastroenterologist they can perform an endoscopy or other tests to check for inflammation also evaluation for the Heart given the chest discomfort, an ECG to rule out cardiac issues before focusing entirely on the gastric side. i would also suggest adjust eating habits eat smaller, more frequent meals and avoid lying down for at least 3 hours after eating. Elevate the head Use a wedge pillow to keep his upper body inclined during sleep, which helps gravity keep acid in the stomach
Health Tips
Because chest discomfort can sometimes mimic a heart attack, you must go to emergency care if your father experience sudden, crushing chest pain or extreme heaviness pain radiating to the left arm, jaw, or back. Shortness of breath, cold sweats, or dizziness.

Hi, these symptoms are commonly seen with acid reflux / GERD (Gastroesophageal reflux disease). Excess acid can move up from the stomach and cause: Gas and chest discomfort Dry cough & sore throat (due to throat irritation)
Next Steps
Avoid spicy, oily, late-night meals Don’t lie down immediately after eating Try antacids or PPIs (under medical advice)
