Frequent itching in the private area that: • Did not improve with luliconazole cream • Did not improve with antifungal soap • And is recurring …may not be a simple fungal infection alone. Common causes in such cases: 1. Fungal infection (tinea cruris) that is: • Recurrent • Partially treated 2. Irritant or contact dermatitis • From tight underwear • Synthetic fabrics • Excess sweating • Harsh soaps 3. Mixed infection (fungal + bacterial irritation) 4. Overwashing or soap use, which damages skin barrier If itching persists despite antifungal cream, it often means: • Treatment duration was too short • Reinfection is happening • Or the problem is not purely fungal
Next Steps
Clothing and hygiene Yes, switching from tight V-shape underwear to loose cotton boxers is recommended, because: • Boxers reduce friction • Improve ventilation • Decrease sweat accumulation • Help healing Choose: • Loose, 100% cotton underwear • Change twice daily if sweating • Avoid synthetic or tight innerwear ⸻ Treatment plan (general guidance) For persistent itching, a short structured course works better: Morning • Wash with plain water (no soap on the area) • Apply luliconazole cream thin layer Night • Apply antifungal dusting powder (e.g., clotrimazole or candid powder) Tablet (if itching severe) • Levocetirizine at night for 5–7 days Duration: • Continue topical antifungal at least 3–4 weeks • Even if symptoms improve earlier ⸻ Important precautions Avoid: • Steroid-mixed creams • Scented soaps • Tight underwear • Reusing unwashed innerwear • Sitting long in sweaty clothes
Health Tips
• Dry the area completely after bathing • Use a separate towel for private area • Sun-dry underwear daily • Apply antifungal powder during the day if sweating • Check for similar rash in thighs or groin folds ⸻ When to consult a doctor in person • No improvement after 3–4 weeks • Red, thickened, or cracked skin • White patches on penis or foreskin • Burning during urination • Diabetes or high sugar levels ⸻ About sending pictures If you are comfortable, you may share images, but it is not mandatory. Many cases can be managed based on symptoms and history alone. ⸻ This is a very common and treatable condition, especially in warm climates. With the right clothing, proper hygiene, and a consistent treatment course, most patients see clear improvement within a few weeks. If you’d like, you can describe the exact location and appearance, and I can guide you more precisely.

Dear Patient Frequent itching in the private area in males is most commonly due to fungal infection (tinea cruris or jock itch), sweating, friction, tight underwear, or moisture retention. If luliconazole and antifungal soap have not helped, the infection may still be active or there may be irritation dermatitis also present. changing from tight V shape underwear to loose cotton boxers is strongly recommended because tight underwear increases sweat and friction which worsens fungal infection. What you should do • Use loose cotton boxer underwear and keep area dry • Wash with plain water and dry completely before wearing clothes • Apply antifungal powder during daytime to reduce moisture • Continue antifungal cream twice daily for at least 3 to 4 weeks (even if symptoms improve early) • Avoid steroid mixed creams • Change underwear twice daily if sweating more • Avoid scratching to prevent secondary infection If itching is severe sometimes oral antifungal medicine may be required Consult me qnd share image • Red rash with border spreading or pigmentation present • Cracks pain or discharge develops • No improvement after 2 to 3 weeks treatment • Diabetes history or recurrent infection For proper diagnosis treatment plan and medicines you can text me on Practo anytime.
