Fatty liver symptoms
Hello Doctor, i have some abnormality in my lft test. Is this means i maybe have fatty liver? Should i go for whole abdomen ultrasound for verification? Also i have some gas acidity issue in my stomach looking like symptoms of IBS & GERD as whenever i go to a tour with my family only i get loose motions with gas and stool passes with so much noise . Also sometimes on a tour i get hiccups for 2-3days continuously even after drinking water. Is usg can detect any abnormality within my stomach ? I generally eat my night food at 9pm and then next meal i take it next day around 12pm . I drink only 1 cup coffee in morning only as i don't feel hungry in morning. Is avoiding breakfast can also cause gas acidity issue ?

Get abdominal ultrasound done. Avoid fatty,  spicy food. Take frequent small meals. Loose motions occurring are more likely due to  infection,  had it been ibs, they would have occurred consistently.

As a physician, I would interpret your Liver Function Test (LFT) as follows: Parameter Result Interpretation Total Bilirubin 0.84 mg/dL Normal Direct Bilirubin 0.48 mg/dL Mildly elevated AST (SGOT) 38.5 U/L Mildly elevated ALT (SGPT) 47.1 U/L Mildly elevated ALP 94 U/L Normal Total Protein 7.26 g/dL Normal Albumin 4.92 g/dL Normal What does this mean? Your liver enzymes (AST and ALT) are only mildly elevated (less than 1.5 times the upper limit of normal). This is a very common finding and does not automatically mean serious liver disease. Could this be Fatty Liver? Yes, fatty liver (NAFLD) is one of the common causes of mild ALT/AST elevation, especially if you have: * Overweight or obesity * Central abdominal obesity * Diabetes or prediabetes * High cholesterol or triglycerides * Sedentary lifestyle However, LFT alone cannot confirm fatty liver. Should you get an Ultrasound? Yes. A whole abdomen ultrasound is reasonable. It can: * Detect fatty liver * Assess liver size and texture * Rule out gallstones and biliary pathology * Evaluate other abdominal organs Regarding Your IBS/GERD Symptoms You describe: * Gas and bloating * Loose motions mainly during travel * Noisy bowel movements * Anxiety-related bowel symptoms during tours * Occasional prolonged hiccups This pattern is quite suggestive of: * Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), especially stress-triggered IBS * Associated GERD/gastritis Travel and anxiety commonly trigger IBS symptoms through the gut-brain axis. Additional Tests I would consider * Complete Blood Count (CBC) * Fasting Blood Sugar / HbA1c * Lipid Profile * HBsAg (Hepatitis B) * Anti-HCV (Hepatitis C) * Whole abdomen ultrasound Lifestyle Advice * Avoid alcohol completely until evaluation is complete. * Reduce oily, fried, and processed foods. * Exercise 30–45 minutes daily. * Maintain healthy weight. * Avoid overeating during travel. * Limit carbonated drinks and excessive tea/coffee. When to see a Gastroenterologist urgently * Yellow eyes or skin (jaundice) * Significant weight loss * Blood in stool * Persistent vomiting * Severe abdominal pain * Progressive increase in liver enzymes Overall Impression Your report shows very mild liver enzyme elevation, which may be due to fatty liver, recent viral illness, medications, alcohol intake, or metabolic causes. An ultrasound abdomen is a reasonable next step, but these results do not suggest severe liver disease at present. Your bowel symptoms sound more consistent with IBS with associated GERD/gastritis than with a liver problem.
