I got an abrasion from a bite from a pet dog about 8years ago. I got two set of injections on the first day, followed by two more on days 3 and 7.
However, i missed the day 14 and day 28 dose.
To the best of my knowledge the dog's been fine.
But given the long gestation period in rabies, the worry frequently comes by. Should I/can I get the rest of the doses now?

You should not worry about it at this stage. Even if the dog was harbouring a Rabies virus the virus couldn't do anything to you. If the virus was so weak and attenuated it would be working more like a vaccination rather than disease producing organism . So you are safe.
