Can 6 weeks of crash dieting cause vitamin deficiencies that can manifest symptoms ?
I had done a crash diet following the diet plan of a local nutritionist, went from 86kgs to 76kgs in a span of 6 weeks, I am 165cms tall. The diet did not have any animal protein, carbohydrate was very limited and fruit was restricted as well. I eventually opted out of the diet because I was feeling sapped. 4 to 6 weeks later I experienced some symptoms that include
a. Minor cheilitis
b. Hair Loss
c. Easy Bruising
d. Tingling near the elbows
e. Mild Shivering of hands.
f. Muscular tightness
All symptoms did not occur at the same time. They happened in a phased manner over 2months in spite of me moving back onto a regular diet. In a further 2months period of remaining on a regular diet the symptoms have receded.
Could vitamin and mineral deficiencies have been the reason for these symptoms ? And if so which ones ? And what supplements would you advise continuing to make a full recovery ?
