• Likely chronic lip hyperpigmentation (multifactorial: sun exposure, lip licking, cosmetics, possible post-inflammatory changes) • Not dangerous, but stubborn and slow to improve • Surrounding perioral pigmentation also suggests friction/sun/irritation component Next steps • Start lip-safe depigmenting routine: – Morning: lip balm with SPF 30+ (very important) • Use plain petrolatum (Vaseline) frequently for barrier repair • Consider mild chemical peel (lactic acid-based) under dermatologist supervision if no improvement • Check for triggers: lipstick, toothpaste (SLS), lip licking Helpful tips / Words of caution • Avoid steroid creams or strong fairness creams on lips • Avoid matte/long-stay lipsticks temporarily • Hydration + sun protection = most important • Results take 6–8 weeks minimum Kindly consult with me via practo for detailed evaluation and treatment

Hi..dark lips are of little concern apart from their comspetic appeal. The causes can vary from genetic or physiological pigmentation to sunlight, smoking, lip licking etc. Avoid the triggers if any , and use a good lip care balm.
Next Steps
review after months after stopping the probable trigger
