4 year old female with complaints of frequent episodes of cough and other respiratory symptoms with no signs of infection could be signal towards atopy. In non medical terms - its explained as allergy . Allergic rhinitis, asthma etc disorders fall under the same umbrella. With frequent complaints of similar episodes - need to rule out any allergy to surroundings like dust, any type of food ingredients, etc
Next Steps
- Need detailed history and evaluation on episodes and associated clinical findings of the past
- Can correlate to atopy/allergy by few blood investigations like serum IgE levels
- If symptoms like breathing difficulty and wheezing/noisy breathing must rule out asthma and other similar illnesses
Health Tips
- Meet a pediatrician for the better evaluation to rule out atopy , need of long course of need of anti allergenics/anti histaminics

Does that happen when she is exposed to dust or pets or any similar trigger? Please provide details of exact medication given to child . Does anyone in the family also have such symptoms? Recurrent cough for 2-3 months with wheezing and night time chest retractions suggest likely diagnosis of Reactive Airway Disease or early asthma or allergy related bronchitis. She needs proper evaluation with trial of combination of bronchodilator with inhaled corticosteroids.
Hello there, this history seems that she has hyperreactive airway disease or childhood asthma. Where any trigger leads to spasm and breathing difficulty.
I would suggest to go for pulmonary function test and to check bronchodilator response.
We should also investigate for any anatomical defect for the same.
Make sure Proper technique of giving nebulization and MDI.
Do consult online and get prescribed properly with proper history with xray photos and prescription .
