After circumcision, the glans, which was previously covered by the foreskin, becomes continuously exposed to contact with clothing and external stimuli. This can result in increased sensitivity or discomfort. In addition, the nerve endings around the glans and the circumcision site may be temporarily more sensitive during the healing period.
This symptom is commonly experienced during the first few weeks after circumcision. Over the next 1–3 months, the glans gradually adapts to its exposed state through a process of keratinisation, and the sensitivity usually decreases.
Next Steps
Can use-
1. Plain petroleum jelly (Vaseline)
2. Liquid paraffin
Health Tips
Are there any associated symptoms such as redness, swelling, discharge, increasing pain, or fever? If present, an underlying infection should be considered and evaluated.
