Rabies post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP): If the cat isn't up-to-date on its rabies vaccination or if the cat's vaccination status is unknown. PEP includes:
- Immediate washing of the wound with soap and water.
- Administration of rabies immune globulin (antibodies against rabies).
- A series of rabies vaccinations over 14 days.
