Hello All
I got my rabies vaccine completed 15 days ago. On 21 april all 4 shots for a small scratch on leg which did bleed a little.
But today I removed a street cat for our porche by picking it up. His claws didn't reach me . But when I got inside home after 5 -10 mins I felt a little burning sensation on kunckles
Looked like a paper cut / tiny nick. I wasjed it thoroughly, applied betadine
1. I am not sure whether cat nicked me cuz it happened late
2. It's tiny, vaccine completed 15 days ago.
What should I do now???
Please help

Since you completed the full rabies vaccination course just 15 days ago and this was only a doubtful tiny nick with immediate washing, the risk is extremely low and there is no need to panic 👍 you can still consult once for confirmation regarding booster advice based on exposure category 🌸
Since you completed your full course of 4 Rabies vaccine shots only 15 days ago (on April 21st), your body is currently at its peak level of antibody protection. According to WHO and National Rabies Guidelines, a person who has completed a full vaccination course within the last 3 months is considered adequately protected. Even if the 'tiny nick' was caused by the cat, your immune system is already primed to neutralize the virus."
Next Steps
No Immediate Booster Needed: "As per standard protocol, no further vaccine shots or Rabies Immunoglobulins (RIG) are required for this minor incident, given your very recent vaccination history."
Wound Care: "You have already done the right thing by washing it thoroughly and applying Betadine. Continue to keep the area clean. It should heal like a normal minor cut."
"For a formal clinical review of your previous vaccination certificate and to discuss a long-term safety plan, please book a full consultation session via my Practo profile."
Health Tips
The 3-Month Rule: "Usually, for any new exposure within 3 months of a completed course, only wound cleaning is sufficient. Boosters are typically only considered after 3-6 months depending on the severity of the bite."
Cat Observation: "If the street cat is accessible, just keep an eye on it for 10 days. If it stays healthy, it further confirms there was zero risk."
Anxiety Management: "It is normal to feel anxious after an animal encounter, but scientifically, you are in the safest possible window right now."
