Sir I have OCD since I was 14 yrs old . Now I am 26 yrs old recently taking psychotherapy and ssri(fluvoxamine) . I have taken ssri for 3 months bt due to side effects I have to discontinue it. I am continuing with psychotherapy and feeling better !!
Bt 3 to 4 days ago I was going through a article from medical news it was written that OCD and schizophrenia are linked and having OCD increases the chance of developing schizophrenia . In my family nobody has schizophrenia nor my mom and dad dnt even have OCD . Is it true that m more vulnerable to develop schizophrenia in my later life ??? I DNT have any symptoms of schizophrenia till date !!!

Genetically the two are different but symptomatically the difference gets lesser . The only difference is of insight . OCD per se will not change to schizophrenia. But you must not overlook medicines . Consult psychiatrist for medical management
