Burn injury
My skin got burned by a motorcycle silencer pipe. Currently I am using Silverex and taking an antibiotic tablet. However, I have not taken a tetanus vaccine for this injury. The last tetanus 0.5 ml vaccine I took was on 24 October 2025 because of a dog's nail scratch. This burn happened on 7 March 2026. Do I need to take the tetanus vaccine again now?

Consult with a doctor
Online now
Since you already took a tetanus vaccine on 24 Oct 2025, you are protected and do not need another dose now. Continue burn care, keep the wound clean, and apply the prescribed cream. If redness, pus, or increasing pain occurs, consult a doctor.

Hello. Since you already received a tetanus vaccine on 24 October 2025, and this burn injury occurred on 7 March 2026, you are still well within the protective period. In such cases, another tetanus injection is usually not required because the vaccine protection generally lasts at least 5 years for wound protection. Next steps: Continue the local wound care as advised by your doctor. Using Silverex cream and keeping the burn area clean and covered helps prevent infection and supports healing. Helpful tips: • Keep the burn clean and dry • Avoid touching or peeling the healing skin • Watch for signs of infection like increasing redness, swelling, pus, or severe pain If the burn is deep, not healing properly, or shows signs of infection, it would be advisable to get it examined for proper wound care and dressing advice. You may consult for further guidance if needed.

Since you already received a tetanus vaccine on 24 October 2025, you are well protected now. For injuries or burns, a tetanus booster is generally required only if the last vaccine was more than 5 years ago,but In your case it has been only about 4–5 months, so another tetanus injection is not required at this time. For the burn: 1.continue Silverex cream as advised. 2.Keep the area clean and dry. 3.Avoid friction or covering it with tight clothing.
Next Steps
Watch for signs of infection such as increased redness, swelling, pus, severe pain, or fever.
