Breathing problem/issues
Dear Doctor, My father is 79 years old. After his afternoon nap and sometimes at night, but not when he is asleep, he has trouble breathing and makes a wheezing sound when he breathes. He is suffering a lot because of this problem. Could you please suggest some medicine or treatment for him?

Dear Concerned Family Member,  Thank you for reaching out regarding your father’s breathing difficulties. Wheezing and breathlessness, especially after rest or at night, can be caused by various conditions such as **asthma, COPD, heart failure, or sleep apnea**. Given his age (79 years), it is crucial to evaluate this properly, as untreated respiratory or cardiac issues can worsen over time.  Since symptoms occur when he is not fully asleep, this suggests it may not be purely sleep-related but could involve **airway obstruction, fluid retention, or other underlying conditions**. Without a proper clinical examination and possibly diagnostic tests (like chest X-ray, spirometry, or ECG), prescribing medication would not be safe or effective.  I strongly recommend scheduling a **detailed consultation** so we can:  1. Review his medical history and current medications.  2. Assess his breathing patterns and symptoms.  3. Determine if further tests are needed.  4. Provide a **personalized treatment plan** to relieve his discomfort.  For immediate assistance, you can reach me on WhatsApp at **eight zero zero nine eight two one three three two** to book an appointment or discuss his condition further.
