Bp related question
Good evening sir, today I measured my blood pressure it's shows 147/62 after some time it's shows 150/72 in left hand and in right hand it shows135/84. After 1 hour I measured in left hand it shows 155/60. And in right hand it shows 138/85. After that I rotate my hand and circulate it. After that I check 5 times in left hand it shows 125/82, 130/85 and 128/84. Please suggest it is anything wrong because in left hand always show upper side higher and lower side is around 60-65 or it is correct after left hand rotation

Do the following, 1. Get blood pressure checked by a nurse or a doctor on your right and left arm. Also ask them to check the blood pressure in your calf (lower leg) right and left. If they find readings just like what you did ie one side readings are much higher than the other, then 2. CT aortogram to check for signs of narrowing of aorta called Coarctation and for signs of subclavian artery stenosis. All the best. J G S R clinic

Small differences between both hands are common. Your later readings (125–130/82–85) are better and more reliable after resting calmly for 5 minutes. Check BP in the same arm, after proper rest, and avoid repeated checking. For proper evaluation and advice, please consult me directly.

Your readings show variability, which is common with digital BP monitors. A few important points: • Initial left arm readings: 150/60–155/60 → high systolic with low diastolic (wide pulse pressure). • Right arm readings: 135–138/84–85 → closer to borderline normal. • After relaxing and rechecking: 125–130/82–85 → this is acceptable. Most likely causes: • Anxiety while measuring (white-coat effect even at home) • Improper arm position or muscle tension • Measuring repeatedly within short intervals • Cuff placement issue A true persistent difference of >10–15 mmHg between arms can sometimes indicate vascular variation, but in your case the readings normalized after resting, which suggests measurement variability rather than disease. The diastolic of 60–65 is not dangerous if you are asymptomatic (no dizziness, fainting).
Next Steps
Do BP properly for accurate assessment: • Sit quietly for 5 minutes • Back supported, feet flat on floor • Arm at heart level, relaxed • No talking • Take 2 readings, 1 minute apart • Measure at the same time daily • Record readings for 7 days If average BP is: • ≥140/90 consistently → needs medical review • 130–139 systolic → lifestyle modification and monitoring • 15 mmHg, then evaluation with a physician is advised.
Health Tips
• Do not check BP repeatedly within minutes (it increases anxiety and alters readings). • Reduce salt, caffeine, late-night screen time (you mentioned poor sleep previously). • Continue 30–45 min brisk walking daily. • Improve sleep hygiene (poor sleep itself increases systolic BP). From the pattern you shared, this looks more like measurement fluctuation + stress response, not an emergency. If you’d like, we can review a 7-day BP log together in an online consultation and interpret it properly so you don’t have to keep worrying about each single reading.

Dear Patient, Your blood pressure readings show some variation between the left and right arm which is quite common. Differences of up to 10 to 15 mmHg between arms can occur due to temporary factors such as body position muscle tension stress anxiety recent activity or incorrect cuff placement. In your case the readings improved after relaxing and rotating the arm which suggests the higher readings were likely due to muscle tightness or measurement technique rather than a fixed medical problem. Important points Systolic pressure around 147 to 155 initially may occur due to anxiety or improper rest before measurement Diastolic readings around 60 to 65 are acceptable if you have no symptoms like dizziness or weakness Final readings around 125 to 130 over 82 to 85 are within acceptable range What you should do Always rest for 5 minutes before checking BP Sit comfortably with back support and feet on floor Keep the arm at heart level and avoid talking during measurement Use the same arm preferably right arm for regular monitoring Check BP twice daily for 5 days and note the average When to consult a doctor Repeated readings above 140 over 90 on multiple days Symptoms like headache dizziness chest pain breathlessness or palpitations Persistent difference more than 20 mmHg between arms For further guidance or personalized advice you may consult me online anytime.
