Blood grp umbilicol cord

Asked for Male, 32 Years

For my newly born baby , hospital has confirmed the blood group as A+ after delivery. However, I had planned for umbilical cord preservation for which I got the recipt today where they are saying AB+ as the blood group of umbilical cord. Now, I have 2 different blood groups for umbilical cord and baby. Is it really possible ?

Expression of blood groups at birth may be erratic and hence this scenario is possible. In such cases , it is better to get the blood group of the baby repeated at 6 months.
