There are many varieties of high fibre rice available in India, brown rice is just one of them. Others are red rice, Kerala matta rice, rajamudi rice. Even black / purple wild rice is grown in some parts. But any hand pounded unpolished rice is good for diabetics and have low GI. To increase fibre further, cook rice with veggies such as beans, peas, carrot etc, without oil.
Hi,
The only reason we say that brown rice is better because of the fiber content it has. But at the same time, it doesn't mean that other types of rice become bad for you.
All sorts of rice are fine till the time you're doing a portion control, and have a proper carbohydrate counting done.
