Baby sleeping while breastfeed

Asked for Female, 28 Years

My 2 months old baby has sucking problem from the birth. So I use to give formula and my expressed milk through breast pump. After 2 months he sucks properly on breast but he would sleep off after 10min and when I wake him up he would cry of hunger and repeats the sleep cycle. So I have given formula. Why he would sleep off immediately. He sucks so hard that nipples are also so painful. How to avoid painful nipples while breastfeeding.
