Venlor XR (venlafaxine) 37.5 mg is an SNRI (Serotonin-Norepinephrine Reuptake Inhibitor), often prescribed for anxiety and panic disorders. Many people take it for years with good results, under medical supervision. Long-term use can be safe if regularly monitored—but no psychiatric medication should be continued indefinitely without periodic review. The risk of serotonin syndrome is very low at this dose, especially when not combined with other serotonergic medications.
Next Steps
Regular check-ins with your psychiatrist (every 3–6 months) to evaluate dosage, side effects, and continued need. Do not stop the medicine abruptly, as that can trigger withdrawal symptoms or a return of anxiety. If you're doing well, your doctor might later discuss tapering the dose, especially if therapy and lifestyle changes are in place.
Health Tips
Pair medication with CBT-based therapy to build long-term coping tools (available at clinics like Soul Savera). Maintain a mood tracker and note side effects, if any. Ensure a healthy lifestyle—good sleep, diet, and movement all support mental wellness and can eventually reduce medication dependency. Educate yourself on early symptoms of serotonin syndrome (rare, includes confusion, agitation, rapid heart rate, sweating, etc.), but don’t panic—this typically happens with medication mixing or overdosing.

Hey, Thanks for reaching out. Venlor XR can help with anxiety and panic attacks, but for long-term use, it’s best to check in with a psychiatrist to make sure it’s safe for you, especially to rule out any risks like serotonin syndrome. Also, talking to a psychologist can really help you manage anxiety better and reduce the need for medication in the long run. A mix of therapy and medical support usually works best. Take care and don’t hesitate to get both kinds of support!

Hi... In most cases panic and anxiety issues get resolved with a combination of medications and psychotherapy. They do not last for life long. Also, please avoid reading online about medications and their side effects. Rather, take a second opinion if you have already consulted a Psychiatrist. Different combination and dosages of medications produce different results in different patients. Each brain is unique, so it takes time of any Psychiatrist to understand how someone's brain is responding to a set of medications. They often prescribe and later adjust the combination or dosage as per the nuances of each case. Try following the correct path to recover best.
Next Steps
Consult a Psychiatrist. For Medications use and side effects. Consult a Psychologist. CBT along with Lifestyle Guidance and Interpersonal Counselling is required.
