Anemia for sometime.

Asked for Female, 32 Years

My sister has low haemoglobin for the last few years. Around 2011, she got unconcious for a few seconds and we found that her haemoglobin was around 7. Doc gave her sone iron medication and she felt fine. Next time, haemoglobin was aroind 6-7 again when pregnant. Now its been 7 months since then and now her haemoglobin is again around 7. I'm really worried what could be causing it and its harm in long term.

She needs to be evaluated for Anaemia. There could be Anaemia due to various reasons. Consult a physician and follow the advice. She may require bone marrow aspiration and biopsy, thalassemia screening, upper gi endoscopy and colonoscopy. Usg abdomen. If there is blood loss, she needs treatment for that.
