Adenoid hyperthropy
My 15 year old son has adenoid hyperthropy with enlarged tonsil of right side, acute pharyngitis and rhinosinustis, mouth breathing with obstructive sleep apnea level 2..he has cold and cough symptoms mainly in rainy season and recurrent infection and antibiotic course.In winter and summer he is okay, less to no infection..Is it due to adenoids or tonsils or allergies .Currently SLIT immunotherapy has been started.. Is this therapy enough or what other treatment can help him..

At the age of 15 if the child is having adenoid hypertrophy, surgical management should be considered. As adenoid tissue normally regress till 12 years of age, if they are still hypertrophied, they willl lead to multiple problems like sleep issues, decreased immunity, growth retardation, irritability, facial deformity. Many allergic symptoms will also resolve post adenoidectomy

You will have to wait to know whether SLIT is helping him or not … since immunotherapy takes a long while to act and is the best cure for allergies If it doesn’t subside surgical management will be needed Also please add topical nasal steroids to help with the symptoms
