Most infants would have this problem initially . There may be some initial difficulty in coordinating the chewing and swallowing process . You can make the foods softer so that swallowing is easier
You could also give soft foods like potato fingers , piece of cooked vegetables like cauliflower , soft biscuits etc in his hand so that he develops the habit of chewing and then swallowing on his own, even if he throws away most of the food and makes a mess
Don't worry , just be patient and don't get frustrated with the baby . Things will settle .
Also ensure that baby has some hunger when you give semi solids . Sometimes we may offer food when he has just been fed milk and then he has no interest in food being offered to him . On the other hand if he is too hungry he will not have the patience to have the semisolids as he will want to abate his hunger rapidly with milk
