How seriously should I take mental health? At what point is what I'm feeling considered abnormal or serious? Everyone has their ups and downs, everyone gets sad sometimes, but I kind of feel like... something's not right, with how often I feel so utterly empty and broken. And when I think that, I feel like I'm making a big deal out of nothing. I'm sure everyone feels this way and they push through it just fine. What I want to know is if I should look into this more, or if it's normal.

The best is to visit a psychologist. One detailed assessment session with a psychologist would give you a more holistic view of your life. Look for a psychologist near you ir book an online consultation session.
