Will female interns comfortable to do it
I’ve been struggling with compulsive masturbation for the last 6 years. I genuinely don’t want to keep doing it, but I keep failing. I don’t want to waste more years like this. I go to a government hospital for mental health help. There are intern psychologists there, and most of them are young females. I’ve been thinking about asking one of them to explain my situation to my parents (they are 65+), and maybe help them understand so they can support me. But I’m unsure: Is it okay to ask an intern to do this? Would female interns feel uncomfortable discussing this topic with my elderly parents? Do interns even do this kind of family explanation/support? So if I do it my parents can shout on me I’m just trying to take a serious step and involve my parents so I can finally deal with this properly. Looking for honest opinions or experiences.

Your concern is understandable, and compulsive sexual behavior is a psychological issue many people struggle with. Asking a mental health professional to help explain the situation to your parents is a responsible step, and trained interns are usually prepared to discuss sensitive topics professionally.

It’s better if a professional explains, rather than interns, because professionals would have already felt with Such cases, I’m Noor saying interns don’t know anything, a experienced professional can explain in much better way than them. No harm in getting consulted by a female psychologist.

First, we need to understand the reason behind explaining your behaviour related to masturbation to your elder parents. Masturbation itself is a healthy biological process which almost everyone has experienced in their life. Need some more information to comment on your issue.
Next Steps
try to identify what is the actual cause of your distress whether masturbation or repetitive thoughts about it.

Yes, it’s okay to ask an intern psychologist for this. Interns are trained to handle sensitive topics professionally and without judgment. Discussing compulsive sexual behaviour and helping with family understanding is part of mental-health support. If the intern feels it needs more experience, they may involve a senior psychologist or supervisor. You can also request that a senior therapist be present when talking to your parents. First discuss your worries with the therapist privately, especially your fear of your parents’ reaction, so the conversation can be planned in a supportive and respectful way. Wanting to involve your parents is actually a positive step toward recovery.

A clinical psychologist can psycho educate your parents regarding your concerns, however an intern can only assist them in that case, since interns are not allowed to conduct sessions or meet informants without a supervisor. Psycho education is essential in psychiatric cases and is done to help the informants and patients understand the disorder better.
