When pains might start in pregnancy
My wife is 37 weeks 2 days pregnant. And for us it appears like baby is still just below the  chest. We feel like Lightening(baby dropping down) didn't happen yet. This is first pregnancy to her. When lightening might happen? After lightening when pains starts? We have doctor appointment on Thursday what more we have to ask? At 34 weeks fundal height was 34cm. At 32weeks baby weight was 1.8kg Doctor said we are under low risk category.

In first pregnancy the head gets fixed anytime til 40weeks...there some signs like increased frequency or urine...decreased fundal height etc which help to predict however they are not very precise The only way to findout is by an internal examination Look out for pain... bleeding or gush of water in which case you have to go to the hospital

After lightening which usually happens in the last week of pregnancy that is 40th week ,it takes another 8 to 10 hours for the first stage of labour to finish during which time internal examination is done to see for cervix dilatation, and per chance the bag of water is burst then it usually straight goes in the second stage of labour where you can expect normal delivery to happen ,all this while or just before the labour an ultrasound done to see for foetal heartbeats ,cord , amniotic fluid etc ,and if there is no foetal distress ,usually a primi delivers baby normallyin few hours .
