Hi? I am sorry you are feeling this way. I am sure this is tough for you being a parent of a young child. It looks like there is a fear in you if you are going to be a good father or not to your daughter. We have to create a safe space for you to work on the fear and sadness and then slowly move you into a space of healing. We can also work on your parental guilt which is coming from being a father and not feeling enough for your daughter in this moment. Being a parent is tough and there is no best way to get the parenting right. We are all learning each day and it’s ok to just know that we are doing the best we can do today and may be we will learn something new tomorrow and incorporate into our routines to be better in our own eyes so we feel better. You’re a good parent even for worrying for your daughter. Stay

Hi there! Every individual is born different and same is there in your case as well. As there is a family history of paranoia and you yourself is under medications but that doesn't mean that your daughter will also be suffering from the same, though she is prone to suffer. Here are few initiatives that you can take as precautionary measures:- 1)Along with medications you yourself be under psychotherapy (very important) 2) Plan to have a family therapy session atleast once a month so that things could be managed well and if in any case there is anything which is not on track your therapist will see, if required will refer you to the specific expert. 3)Also if you see any symptom or anything unusual, immediately consult a Psychiatrist will help you better to plan things:) Your concern for your daughter is highly appreciable & do take precautionary measure. Hope you will work on yourself too, if you want medications to be more effective!

Hi... There has been a steep rise in mental health issues in India and around the world in past few decades. Post pandemic the situation has been even worse. Although it is true that mental health conditions like Schizophrenia, paranoia, depression, etc. can be hereditary but it is not so that they cannot occur to a person who doesn't have a family history. Again all this has a chance factors that is always unpredictable. Yes, there is a possibility of your daughter also developing one or the other form of a mental health concern but I would say it will be more because of the environmental factors and less caused by hereditary factors. What you can do is to try to give her a healthy and secure brought up. Provide her with basic resources, skills, and abilities to deal with the challenges of life and then be there with her in all her ups and downs as a father. That is best we can do as parents. Nothing more is expected and nothing more can be delivered.
