What are the complications in laminectomy
Hi my father is 60 year old. He is complaining of a typical nerve pain which is coming from the back to the right leg. The doctors have says its due to compression of the nerve and will require laminectomy. I would want to know what are the complications of Laminectomy?

There are various methods of doing a laminectomy. The Surgeon doing the laminectomy will know best what the complications for that method are. In general there can he infection, nerve damage, spinal fluid leakage, back pain, the spine can become unstable if too much bone is taken away, pain relief can be incomplete. Longer term there can be scarring or recurrence of symptoms. Surgery by an Orthopaedic Spine surgeon only is recommended.
