I am so glad to hear that your pain has reduced and you are feeling better. Living with vulvodynia is incredibly tough and finally getting relief is a huge milestone. However I need to share a very important medical fact with you about the medicines you were taking. About stopping your medication Medicines like Gabapin and clonazepam work by deeply calming down hyperactive nerves. It is generally not recommended to stop them suddenly on your own. Abruptly stopping nerve medications can sometimes cause a rebound effect where the pain comes back sharply or you might feel some temporary withdrawal symptoms like poor sleep or restlessness. Ideally these medicines should always be slowly tapered off over a few weeks under medical supervision. What to do if the pain comes back? Do not panic: Since the medication worked so well for you the first time we know exactly what your nerves respond to. This is a very positive thing! We have a working solution if we ever need it again. Do not restart alone: If the burning or pain does return please do not just restart the old prescription on your own. The dosage will need to be adjusted safely. Keep up the gentle care: Continue wearing loose cotton clothes avoid any harsh soaps in that area and use a plain water wash to keep the skin and nerves as calm as possible. Finding a doctor for video consultation Since you reached out here I would be more than happy to continue helping you via video consultation right here on this platform so we can keep a close eye on your progress.
