VCJD prion disease
I had a bleeding cut on my foot and was told to go barefoot to the hospital bathroom in Bangalore to wash it. My open wound touched the hospital and bathroom floor. I am now very worried about vCJD or prion disease, since these can be transmitted through blood. If there was someone else's blood on the floor, could I have caught it through my wound? I am feeling very anxious and afraid of death after researching prion diseases. What should I do?

As per my advice you must visit a Psychiatrist so that detailed assessment and evaluation can be done regarding your symptoms of anxiety and getting the fear of illness, prion disease or vCJD are not transmitted through this manner, very rare and these diseases were transmitted through eating infection meat . Your anxiety and fear of getting an illness can be a part of the OC spectrum. It needs to be further explored. It is treatable and you will be relieved once you start medication

Hi Your cut touching the hospital bathroom floor will not give you vCJD or any prion disease—those conditions are vanishingly rare and never spread from surface blood contact. Medically, the risk here is virtually zero, so your body is safe. What’s spiking is health-anxiety OCD: scary “what-ifs” loop in your mind, not real danger. Stop searching, clean the wound normally, and refocus on calming activities or CBT techniques that ground you in facts. Take therapy, and you can connect with me on nine two six six seven two six zero six five.

Hi, Your concern is genuine for sure. But, unless there are any symptoms of the disease present, we cannot be sure of any kind of infection. It is okay to feel concerned but if the anxiety is affecting your daily functioning, sleep, appetite, work then it warrants a psychiatric evaluation.
Next Steps
Kindly consult a psychiatrist near you or online
