I am 39 years old, I took my first dose of Covishield on 3rd April,and tomorrow I will complete 42 days after vaccination, now it is heard that the duration between the two doses has increased, what shall I do now? Can we take second dose after 16 week or its a vail to cover the vaccine scarcity? Please answer me ASAP.

This decision of delaying second dose of covishield has been taken after studying the data about vaccination from United Kingdom . It is now being recommended that second dose should be taken after 12 -16 weeks of interval . It is not some game from government this has scientific proof behind this recommendation.

The recommendations are given by an expert panel after considering scientific evidence from different countries. Please don't feel it as a vail for vaccine shortage. Increasing the gap from 6-8 to 12-16 weeks now (for Covishield only) will increase the amount of antibody formation and hence protection.

Now recommendation changed, u can take vaccine between 12 to 16 week after first vaccination. Because study shows that the vaccine efficacy increases if gap between 2 doses of vaccine is more than 12 weeks.
