Asked for Male, 60 Years

Known diabetic,post turp under self calibration weekly,he has taken tab nitrofurantoin(100) for 3months 1year ago prophylacticaly,now developed acute uti,is nitrofurantoin(100) as BD dose ok for him?

You need to do a urine culture and sensitivity test. This will enable you to know the type of pathogen giving infection and also the antibiotic they are susceptible to. The same antibiotic can be administered for 7-14 days for complete cure. A follow up consultation with the TURP surgeon is definately indicated.
