Yes, drinking 2 glasses of water every hour from 8 AM to 9 PM is SAFE and actually EXCELLENT for your kidneys! This means you'll drink about 26 glasses (around 5-6 liters) per day, which is great for kidney health. Your kidneys are designed to filter and handle large amounts of water. Drinking plenty of water helps kidneys flush out toxins, prevents kidney stones, and keeps uric acid levels down. For someone with uric acid concerns, staying well-hydrated is one of the best things you can do. The only people who should limit water are those with specific kidney disease, heart failure, or on dialysis. For a healthy person, this amount is perfectly fine.
Next Steps
1. Continue drinking 2 glasses water every hour - this is perfect for you! 2. Spread it throughout the day as you planned (8 AM to 9 PM is good timing) 3. You can drink more if you exercise or it's hot weather - listen to your body 4. If you have uric acid issues: Also avoid alcohol, red meat, organ meats, and shellfish 5. Check your urine color - pale yellow means you're well hydrated (dark yellow means drink more) 6. No need to force water at night - you can stop after 9 PM to avoid waking up for bathroom 7. If you develop swelling in feet/face or feel bloated, reduce water and see a doctor
Health Tips
✅ Great habits: - Drinking plenty of water prevents kidney stones - Helps flush out uric acid naturally - Keeps your kidneys healthy and strong ⚠️ Only stop if: - You develop unusual swelling in hands/feet/face - You feel dizzy or nauseous from too much water - You have existing kidney disease (check with doctor first) 💡 Helpful tips: - Add lemon to water sometimes - it helps prevent kidney stones - Room temperature water is better than very cold water - Drink more in summer, less in winter as needed 🚫 Don't worry about: - "Overhydration" - it's very rare in healthy people - Flushing out nutrients - your body holds what it needs - Kidney damage - water PROTECTS kidneys, doesn't harm them

Hello, I am Dr. Romain Rajan, General Physician. Your case has been allotted to me. I understand your concern. Drinking enough water is essential for good kidney and overall health, but excessive water intake can also put unnecessary strain on the body. 1. Advices Drinking 1.5–3 litres of water per day is ideal for most healthy adults, depending on activity level, temperature, and sweating. Having 2 glasses (around 400–500 ml) every hour from morning to night would total 6–7 litres daily — this is more than required unless you do heavy physical work or live in extreme heat. Instead of a fixed schedule, drink water based on thirst, urine colour (light yellow is ideal), and activity. 2. What to Monitor Frequency of urination — excessive water may cause frequent trips to the bathroom or mild electrolyte imbalance. Any swelling, nausea, or confusion if water intake is too high. 3. Management You can safely limit to about 3–3.5 litres/day spread throughout the day. If you have kidney, heart, or liver issues, fluid balance needs to be individualized after review. 4. When to Consult a Doctor Immediately If you notice swelling in feet or face. If urine output decreases despite high water intake. If you feel muscle cramps or weakness (may suggest electrolyte loss). Every patient’s requirement differs slightly based on lifestyle and climate. Balanced hydration is always safer than overhydration. 👉 You can reach out to me directly for this case, and also connect with me in future for any medical consultation. I am available on Practo or on WhatsApp at 85271646 seven seven for a one-on-one consultation, where you’ll receive: • A personalized hydration and diet plan • Safe lifestyle adjustments (if required) • Quick follow-ups to track your recovery Take care, wishing you good health. Best regards, Dr. Romain Rajan General Physician

Drinking enough water is definitely good for managing uric acid levels, but having 2 glasses every hour (about 7–8 liters a day) is more than your body needs and can actually disturb your electrolytes. Usually, 2.5–3.5 liters a day is ideal for most people. Stay well-hydrated, but don’t overdo it.

Drinking 2 glasses of water every hour from 8 AM to 9 PM is generally safe if you’re healthy and your kidneys are functioning normally, but let’s calculate it: • Timing: 8 AM – 9 PM = 13 hours • 2 glasses/hour × 13 hours = 26 glasses/day • 1 glass ≈ 200–250 ml → total intake ≈ 5.2–6.5 litres/day That’s more than average (normal need: 2.5–3.5 L/day), so: ✅ Okay if: you sweat a lot, live in a hot climate, or are physically active. ⚠️ Avoid if: you have any heart, kidney, or liver issues — too much water can cause hyponatremia (low sodium). Better plan: • Morning to evening: aim for ~3–3.5 L total • Sip regularly (1 glass every hour or so), don’t force it • Add a pinch of electrolytes (ORS or coconut water) if you sweat heavily

Staying well hydrated is very important. Being 27 year old , hopefully no other Co morbidities like Diabetes/ Hypertension/ Heart Disease or any other chronic condition will allow you to consume 3.5 to 4 litres of water daily . You can also check for your urine colour if its highly dark yellow it indicates dehydration. For Uric acid along with hydration, avoid high purine rich diet ( minimal consumption of red meat , seafood and alcohol , avoid if possible).
Next Steps
Regular monitoring of Uric acid . ( 2 monthly) . To keep an eye on any joint swelling .( small joints of hand and foot )
