My sister is 37 years old. She has two kids. She was in depression for which we admitted her to a hospital in 2013. she took medication since 2013. Due to family issues, she stopped medication a month before and she behaved quite normal for more than a month.she is not eating anything last 5 days.My Parents, as well as her children, convinced her to take food, but in vain. But she is speaking to her friends normally. She is thinking something and laughing.pls suggest it's normal or depression

Practo user,
Poor appetite along with long standing history of illness points to continuity of illness with worsening now. If she continues you to not eat she will need admission. Further comment on the diagnosis can be made only on detailed evaluation. Consult psychiatrist asap for treatment.

She needs help. Stopping medication without the supervision of a doctor can have adverse effects. Pls get her to see a doctor & also get her emotional support in the form of counselling.
