Ulcer in mouth

Doctor, I've had a mouth ulcer for 8 to 9 days. Initially, eating was painful, but using an ulcer cream for the past two days has provided some relief. However, I still experience discomfort when applying the cream. As a former smoker who quit over five years ago, I'm concerned that the ulcer isn't healing. Can you please offer some guidance? Thanks

Hi. It is good that you have quit smoking and are concerned about your health. Since it has been over a week and the ulcer is not healing, I would recommend you to go see a general physician. Any vitamin deficiencies, sharp teeth or any other underlying cause needs to be addressed. Further they can prescribe medication to help the ulcer heal faster and give supplements if necessary.
