I understand why you are worried. Let’s go through the important points calmly. From what you have described -It was vaginal sex -You used a condom -The condom did not break during sex -When you noticed it broke later, you stopped and used a new condom When a condom is used and does not break during intercourse, the risk of getting HIV is very low. Condoms are one of the best protections against HIV. You said your partner took HIV test -Took an HIV rapid blood test -54 days after sex -Result was NEGATIVE A negative test after 6–8 weeks (around 45–60 days) is already a good sign. Modern tests detect HIV by that time. Also you have mentioned Tonsillitis twice and Mild sore throat These symptoms are very common and usually caused by viral throat infections/bacterial tonsillitis/allergies/cold/ flu. They are not specific signs of HIV. Also, you said the doctor treated the tonsillitis and it improved. Since the event happened about 110 days ago. At 3 months (90 days) after exposure, an HIV blood test is considered highly reliable. Your HIV risk appears very low. For diagnosis take HIV blood test now.
Next Steps
If you want to be completely sure, you can take one HIV blood test now (since it has been more than 90 days). If it is negative, doctors consider that conclusive.
