You need to get his blood investigations done especially fever profile and CBC to rule out any other cause of fever. Secondly, if the current medications aren't reducing the illness or the throat pain, it is always good to get a throat swab taken for culture and sensitivity test, so that appropriately antibiotics can be changed.
