Tinnitus - occasional
Hi Doctor, Thanks in advance for taking time to answer my question. I have cold allergy & Eustachian tube keep opens and closes. Sometimes when I try open my ears with valsalva i hear ringing for few seconds . The occasional ringing happens with head movements, while turning or while opening ears and when exposed to very loud noise (like gun shot) . The ringing is for few seconds . It's really concerning. I have done audiometry test before 6 months. My score is 15 in both ears and doctor told its normal . My concern is , Is this occasional ringing a cause of concern or it's due to ETD . And should I repeat Audiometry?

Eustachian tube dysfunction may occur when the mucosal lining of the tube is swollen, or does not open or close properly.  If the tube is dysfunctional, symptoms such as muffled hearing, pain, tinnitus, reduced hearing, a feeling of fullness in the ear or problems with balance may occur. Eustachian tube dysfunction usually resolves itself in a few days.
Next Steps
Allergy medications such as antihistamines or decongestants can manage eustachian tube problems, balance ear pressure, and reduce tinnitus.
