Hi I am 6 months post partum and have been having pitting edema and leg swelling.. doctor ran heart kidney and liver tests all turned out ok.. except my thyroid is not good... in Feb the test showed my tsh was 0.05 and in may now it shows 6.92. The swelling is not going away and I also have developed fatigue little vision issues and constant leg cramps. Could some one help me understand why this is happpening. Also around Feb when my tsh was 0.05 my Levothyroxin was adjusted from 200 to 150. This 200 dosage was given during pregnancy to alternate between 175 and 200. I just continued with 200 post delivery. I had a c section and had an issue with spinal anasthesia which didn't work during the surgery so they gave general anesthesia. (Not sure if this helps).

The patient's clinical presentation demonstrates a classic postpartum over-correction swing into Primary Hypothyroidism. In February, her low TSH of 0.05 indicated she was over-substituted on her pregnancy dose of 200 mcg. However, dropping her dose directly down to 150 mcg was too aggressive, causing her TSH to rebound up to 6.92. This lack of adequate thyroid hormone has slowed down her metabolic and vascular clearance, directly causing fluid tracking into tissues (pitting edema), cellular energy depletion (fatigue), and altered neuromuscular excitability (severe leg cramps). The mild vision issues can also be tied to localized myxedematous changes or dry eyes, which are common when TSH rises
Please consult once with your full thyroid profile and current medications I’ll help you understand what may be happening and what further evaluation is needed.
Have you checked your blood pressure?
Other than renal and liver function tests do you have any other reports like scan? Were these symptoms present even during pregnancy?
