Thyroid during Pregnancy
Dear Madam , As my wife is suffering from thyroid TSH range is  4.8 she is 12 week 5 days pregnant We consulted gynaecologist as she referred thyroxine sodium tab and along with iron and sodium tablets with syrups for hungryness and vitamin Is really cures with thyroxine tab as we are worrying about it ...is it effects on baby Please suggest the opinion for it Humble request Thank you Rajesh S

You are having something called as subclinical hypothyroidism the cutoff for a pregnant women is 2.5 in first trimester and 3 in second and third trimester so according to this wife has to take thyroxine tablets it is highly essential for the baby to develop normally. It's important to take the tablets and it is absolutely safe don't worry
