I have had severe throat pain since last week. Noticed a small bump near the right tonsil area. I also have chills and feel feverish.
Went to the Dr. They checked for flu and COVID which comes -ve.
Tested throat culture and results didn't come yet.
Dr said that bump near the tonsil looks like a fluid filled bump. he didn't concern about it much. Told my ears and throat looks red but not infected.
Gave me steroids injection and prescribed augmentin antibiotics.
I started antibiotics on Friday night. Next day was ok. Today I feel more chills and feverish. Along with more throat pain.
The palm and foot are feeling very hot and body feels chilly. Temperature is normal but body feels very chills and feverish.
Is it normal to feel more sick after starting the antibiotics?
I am not sure if I need to get another opinion.
I am feeling sick more than before.
It's the third day of antibiotics and not feeling better today.
Does it look like tonsil abscess? Thanks.

Thanks for the detailed history. From what you’ve described — severe throat pain for a week, chills, feeling feverish, and a small bump near the right tonsil — this could be a persistent bacterial tonsillitis or may be early peritonsillar abscess, especially if pain is one-sided and worsening despite antibiotics.
It’s not uncommon to feel slightly weak or unwell when starting antibiotics, but feeling progressively worse by day 3 is not typical, especially if steroids were also given. Augmentin usually begins showing improvement within 48–72 hours if it's the right antibiotic for the infection.
Next Steps
1. Do not wait too long — If symptoms are worsening on day 3 of antibiotics:
Revisit your doctor OR
See an ENT specialist (preferably)
2. Ask about:
A repeat throat examination
Checking for peritonsillar abscess (quinsy) — may need needle aspiration if present
Whether a change of antibiotic (e.g., clindamycin) is needed
3. Hydrate well, take warm salt water gargles 3–4 times daily.
4. Continue Augmentin unless advised to stop.
5. If you develop any of these, seek urgent care:
Severe one-sided throat pain
Difficulty opening mouth fully
Difficulty swallowing saliva
Voice change (muffled voice)
High grade fever
Neck swelling
Health Tips
It is not normal to keep feeling worse after starting the right antibiotic.
Do not stop medicines abruptly.
Avoid very cold food or drinks.
Take a soft diet, warm fluids, and rest well.
ENT review is strongly advised if no improvement in 24–48 hrs.

So add Zerodol sp three times a day after food for 3to5 days.
Montek lc one at night for five days.
Betadine gargle add 3ml solution in hot to warm water gargle it before meals two times.
It doesn't look like an abscess. Its inflammation - like pharyngitis. Along with antibiotics use supportive measures like warm saline water for gargling throat and steam inhalation.
