Throat Squamous Papilloma - Cancer Worry
I am 36 yo male. 2 months ago I noticed a small white growth in my throat and I went to the ENT to have it removed. The biopsy confirmed its a squamous papilloma most often associated with HPV. Two days afterI went to do an HPV PCR test to see which type of HPV I had (low or high risk) but it came back negative. How can it be negative 2 days after the wart removed? Now Im concerned of throat cancer because the virus went dormant. I have severe anxiety and depression over it. HELP!

Squamous papilloma are very common benign lesions of throat and are not premalignant. It means that they don't have any chance of transformation into cancer even if not treated by surgery. Only way they turn malignant is if someone undergoes radiation therapy for their treatment which is a. Unlikely situation. So I think you should stop worrying about it as excision has already cured your condition
Next Steps
Consult nearby ENT specialist for confirmation of diagnosis and appropriate treatment if required
